The Equality in STEM network is the brainchild of CQ Strategic Marketing, Managing Director, Jackie Cook who has worked in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) sectors throughout her career.
Over the last 4 years, Jackie attended many women in STEM events and read various pieces of research to better understand the issues facing the sector and identify how both individuals and businesses could be better supported to increase the diversity and inclusivity in what has been traditionally very white male dominated industries.
Jackie who runs her own marketing consultancy specialising in manufacturing and engineering, CQ Strategic Marketing had many conversations with colleagues Peter Chapman from digital technology business Spotlight Studios and Angela Taylor, business development professional from AT Management Solutions who both were keen to support the initiative.
Peter as well as having over 10 years experience in website design, hosting, SEO, digital animation and gaming is also programme leader for the Film and Visual effects course in Animation, Games Development and Web Technologies.
Angela has over 25 years of building sales for engineering and manufacturing businesses across the UK, Europe and USA and has worked with global clients including the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, MoD, Renewables industries, general engineering including owner managed SMEs.
