Equality in STEM event set to tackle Unconscious Bias in the workplace

The first in a series of Equality in STEM events is set to tackle the issue of unconscious bias in the workplace, while also raising money for this year’s Master Cutler’s Challenge.

The event, sponsored by Doncaster based post-16 specialist educational needs provider Harrison College, is titled “Overcoming Unconscious Bias in the Workplace,” and aims to raise awareness about the prevalence of bias and provide actionable strategies for creating a more inclusive and equitable work environment.

Set to take place on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the prestigious Cutlers’ Hall located in Sheffield City Centre, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an engaging program designed to foster dialogue and understanding around bias in STEM environments.

Jackie Cook, the founder of Equality in STEM, emphasized the importance of this event, stating, “Bias continues to hinder the progress of diversity in the workplace. We need to take proactive steps to effect change. By joining us at the event, you will gain valuable insights and learn how to make a difference in your own workplace.

“We are proud to be supporting the Master Cutler’s Challenge 2023 with this event and proceeds will be donated to The Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust. The trust’s valuable work supports individuals and communities in low-income households, including ethnic and minority interests and disability groups, by enriching their lives with cultural activities.”

This event presents an opportunity for individuals working in Science, Engineering, Technology, and related fields to gain valuable insights and contribute to positive change in their workplaces.

Admission to the event is priced at £30 per person, excluding VAT. To secure a place or learn more about the event visit
